Leslie Jones Begs 3 Mild-Mannered Accountants at the Emmys to Protect Her Twitter Account

Three accountants from the firm Ernst & Young got more than they bargained for when Saturday Night Live vet Leslie Jones chatted them up on stage during the Emmy Awards. “Thank you so much Ernst & Young,” she began. “I don’t know who this third dude is, but I really appreciate all of the hard work you do, but let’s be real. Y’all are protecting something that nobody is trying to steal. Don’t nobody want to know about boring Emmy secrets!”

Clad in a form-fitting electric-blue jumpsuit, the Ghostbusters star continued with a single request: “Since you good at keeping things safe, I got a job for you: my Twitter account! Put that in the vault, please!”

ICYMI, Jones’s Twitter and personal website were recently hacked, resulting in her personal information as well as nude photos being leaked. Prior to that, Jones had opened up about all the hateful, racist, and misogynistic messages from Internet trolls that plagued her Twitter feed and resulted in her quitting the social media site in July. This move prompted Ghostbusters director Paul Feig to start a #LoveForLeslieJ movement.

Fortunately, Jones’s exodus didn’t last long. “Thanks for the love and support I received! made me feel real special See you later on @sethmeyers #LoveForLeslieJ,” she tweeted, while explaining the reason for her return.

“Welp … a b**** thought she could stay away,” she said. “But who else is gonna live tweet Game of Thrones!?” Good point. And on Sunday night, she again turned to comedy when discussing this personally painful subject.

“Y’all are using your skills to protect Best Voiceover in a French Sitcom? Meanwhile, I’m butt naked on CNN!” she added, to much laughter and applause. As for those naked pics? “I just wanted to feel beautiful, y’all!” she explained. “Can a sister feel beautiful?”

Judging from the pic she snapped backstage with Liev Schreiber (whom she refers to as her “new crush”), the answer is most definitely yes.
