McGruff the Crime Dog would be proud of Kevin Hart’s ingenuity.

The Central Intelligence star, 36, was the victim of a burglary over the weekend of June 10, when his unoccupied home — behind two security gates in an exclusive neighborhood in the Tarzana section of Los Angeles — was broken into and an estimated $500,000 in jewelry watches and clothing was taken. Now he’s taking matters into his own hands when it comes to solving the case by posting an image captured on his home security footage of one of the alleged thieves — who may also be connected to burglaries at the homes of Chris Brown, Scott Disick, and Blac Chyna — on his social media accounts.

Referring to the man as “the jackass that’s been robbing houses,” he mocked him by saying, “Real smart move wearing the cool ski mask that shows ur eyebrows & the bags under ur eyes.” The comedian vowed to show the crook “the power of social media” by enlisting his followers’ help in a game of “tell on the robber real quick.”

For the record, Hart has 37.5 million Instagram followers, 30 million Twitter followers, and 23 million Facebook likes. So a lot of eyeballs are going to see Mr. Eyebrows.

A potential downside, of course, is that you now have a bunch of amateur sleuths on the case, many throwing out ridiculous theories naming other celebrities. More than one commenter on Hart’s Instagram post has suggested that it looks like Kim Kardashian’s BFF Jonathan Cheban, of Keeping Up With the Kardashians fame. Many others say it looks like NBA star Steph Curry, who must have turned to crime now that the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated his Golden State Warriors. Other offerings? The “dude from Fuller House” and Miley Cyrus. OK then.

If we learned just one thing from Audrina Patridge — and we probably only really learned one thing from her in total during her four years on The Hills — it’s that it can’t hurt. Back in 2009 when the so-called Bling Ring was targeting celebrities including Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Megan Fox, Rachel Bilson, and Lindsay Lohan — the brunette posted footage of the teens ransacking her home online the next day. It took a few months, but the group was eventually arrested and convicted, though we can’t say for sure that her social share had anything to do with that.

Authorities think that the suspect in Hart’s case could be part of a new Bling Ring. There are apparently similarities in all the recent break-ins at the homes of Hart, Brown, Disick, and the future Mrs. Rob Kardashian. They were all out of town at the time of the thefts, jewelry and cash were taken, and the thieves are said to have known exactly where to look for the high-ticket items. We’ll add that the four celebrities are also all very active on social media. For example, Hart was on a press tour around those dates and he shared photos from many of the stops on Instagram. It was very obvious he wasn’t home.

According to TMZ, there were no suspects yet, but we’ll soon see if Hart’s right about “the power of social media.” Look out, Mr. Eyebrows.
