Kerry Washington Partied Until the Wee Hours With the Obamas, Thanks to Usher

When Usher tells you to stay and dance, you better stay and dance. Kerry Washington stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday and talked about President Obama’s farewell party. Washington admitted that Usher talked her into staying longer.

She explained, “We tried leaving around 1 a.m., and as we were leaving, Usher approached my husband, and I and was like, ‘Oh no, you can’t leave. It’s just about to get started. And you don’t walk away from Usher when he tells you a party is about to get started.'”

The star of Scandal also weighed in the president’s eight incredible years in the office and the legacy he will be leaving behind. She added, “I feel like he’s done such a phenomenal job with this country, and I’m so proud to have served in his administration.”

Kerry and her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, welcomed a baby boy, their second child, in October. The 39-year-old actress said they didn’t know the sex of the baby before she gave birth.
