Discussing a breakup is always easier when you’ve already moved on with someone new. Right, Kate Hudson?

The 36-year-old Rock the Kasbah star was photographed going to meet up with her new, much younger fling, Nick Jonas, at Up & Down nightclub in Manhattan on Thursday night. The blonde wore a skin-revealing black pantsuit that showed off her Fabletics frame and some killer shoes. Nick, 23, kept it casual as he arrived separately wearing a hoodie, black pants, and sneakers.

As this May-December romance heats up, Hudson talks about another one cooling off: her four-year relationship with Muse singer Matt Bellamy. The couple, who have a 4-year-old son, Bing, ended their engagement in December, but Goldie Hawn’s daughter calls their move from lovers to co-parents a “seamless transition.”

“Relationships ending are painful, and you can choose to carry that or you can choose to reframe it,” Hudson said in Allure’s November issue. “If Matt and I had a great relationship, we would still be together, but we chose to move on because we had different visions of how we wanted to live our lives. That doesn’t mean, though, that we can’t rebuild something that would be the best thing for the kids.”

Hudson, who also has an 11-year-old son, Ryder, with her first husband, Black Crows rocker Chris Robinson, continued: “We said, ‘We need to try to create something for the kids where they feel like they’re gaining something rather than losing something.’”

And it’s worked. “It’s been a seamless transition,” she said. “Kids just want to see their parents be cool. Everybody’s cool; everybody’s good.”

While “everybody’s cool,” she still craves something long-term and lasting with someone — not just for herself, but for her kids.

“Being someone who has come from a broken family and has a stepfather, I really benefited from having that very consistent [presence] in my life,” said Hudson, whose relationship with her birthfather, Bill Hudson, is famously troubled. (Kurt Russell is her “Pa.”) “And it’s something I am mindful of and want in my life.”

But will she find a “consistent presence” for her sons with Jonas, who is 13 years her junior? They were first spotted together on a roller coaster at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, in September and things since have taken off. However, according to Us Weekly, they are “hooking up” but “not dating.”

Well, if they decided to start dating, we’re sure it would be a “seamless transition.” Hey, that’s just Kate’s style.
