Do you love that girl Jennifer Lawrence? You think she’s just so great and talented and #real and chill and powerful? Well, so does Julia Roberts. Stars! They’re just like us.

Roberts sat down with Good Morning America to talk about her new film, Secret in Their Eyes, and because all content creators are subjects to the almighty power of trending topics, of course the conversation turned to Jennifer Lawrence.

“I applaud her. She’s a young, fabulous, talented whippersnapper and I love that she’s stirring things up,” Roberts said when Michael Strahan asked about Lawrence’s recent op-ed denouncing the Hollywood gender pay gap. “She’s so energetic and seems to speak her mind and I think it’s great. I think it’s great to kind of shake things up. I think it’s great to go, ‘Excuse me. Over here. I know something now and I’m frustrated by it and why is this?’”

Private emails made public in the Sony hack revealed that Lawrence and Amy Adams made less than their male co-stars Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, and Jeremy Renner for American Hustle. This is despite the fact that Lawrence is as, if not more, well-known than anyone else in that lineup.

“[I]f I’m honest with myself, I would be lying if I didn’t say there was an element of wanting to be liked that influenced my decision to close the deal without a real fight,” Lawrence wrote. “I didn’t want to seem ‘difficult’ or ‘spoiled.’ At the time, that seemed like a fine idea, until I saw the payroll on the Internet and realized every man I was working with definitely didn’t worry about being ‘difficult’ or ‘spoiled.’ This could be a young-person thing. It could be a personality thing. I’m sure it’s both. But this is an element of my personality that I’ve been working against for years, and based on the statistics, I don’t think I’m the only woman with this issue. Are we socially conditioned to behave this way?”

Roberts also spoke with Strahan about working with her husband, Danny Moder, who served as the cinematographer on Secret in Their Eyes, saying his presence on set motivated her to work harder.

“He’s my person,” she said. “I think I definitely tried to go more, find more to kind of make him go, ‘Oh, I did not expect her to do that.’”
