Juan Pablo Galavis Is Dating Venezuelan TV Host Osmariel Villalobos!

Juan Pablo Galavis has a new girlfriend!

The former Bachelor confirms to PEOPLE that he has been dating Venezuelan model and TV host Osmariel Villalobos for the past few months.

According to Galavis, he had first heard of Villalobos last year, when a mutual friend showed him her photo. "I asked, 'who's that girl? She's cute,' " Galavis exclusively tells PEOPLE. "He told me, 'If you meet her in real life, you'll die. She's great!' "

Galavis followed her on Instagram, but didn't think much of it until she posted a video of herself dancing with her nephew on May 13. "I thought it was cute, so I commented on her Instagram. She replied to me, and then I wrote to her on private message. We talked about her nephew, and she said that she was spoiling him! We exchanged numbers and then we started texting each other. And it started that way," he says.

Galavis and Villalobos just clicked. "Her birthday is August 2, which is three days before mine," he tells PEOPLE. "We're so much alike. She's like a female version of me – the Juan Pablo that people know personally, not the TV one!"

Galavis says that the attraction is more than physical. "She cares for people. She's very family-oriented. That was important to me. We have a lot in common: we love Reggaeton music and dance all the time. We sing in the car – it's horrible singing, but we do it anyway. It's funny because I do better than her because I know more songs than she does. She likes sports, too. We just have a lot in common."

One thing that Galavis says that he's enjoying: a relationship that is free from television producers and media. "It has been two years since the show ended, and now I feel that I can have a normal and healthy relationship away from the media – even though her job is in the media!"

And how does Galavis' 7-year-old daughter, Camila, feel about this new relationship? "My daughter loved her right away," he says. "She had a relationship with Nikki, but she was really young and didn't understand much. She's older now and she understands it, and she loves Osmariel. That's important for me; I have to be careful about who I bring into our lives. I'm looking for a woman who will love Camila and could someday be her stepmom."

Since his time on the The Bachelor, Galavis has kept busy. Based in Miami, he represents and markets several athletes, writers and singers. (One of his artists will be releasing new music next month, and Galavis is heading to Manchester, England on September 24 to watch the fight of another client, boxer Jorge Linares.) Additionally, he works with professional baseball players and their agents on their marketing and social media plans. He has also worked out deals with Miami car dealerships to donate money to Venezuelan nonprofits Guao and Badan Lara.

Galavis even finds time to help manage the career of his father, Miami-based architect and artist Saul Galavis

"I'm impressed by her," he says of Villalobos. "I'm amazed by the things she says and does. I'm happy to be with her."
