Johnny Depp Shares His Totally Unbiased Opinion of Amber Heard: 'She's Kind of Brilliant'

After all these years, Johnny Depp is still a total romantic.
As if their matching outfits weren’t enough of an indication, the Black Mass actor is really into his new bride, Amber Heard. He gushed about her brilliant mind — among other things — at the premiere of her new film, The Danish Girl, on Saturday.
“We connect on a lot of levels, but the first things that really got me was she’s an aficionado of the blues,” Depp, who married Heard in February, told E! News. “I would play a song, some old obscure blues song and she knew what it was."

Her musical knowledge isn’t her only great quality. The 52-year-old heartthrob also appreciates that Heard, 29, is a bookworm.
"She’s very, very literate,” Depp continued. “She’s a voracious reader — as I have been — so we connected on that as well. And she’s kind of brilliant.”
He added, “I’m a lucky man.”
Heard’s new movie is a period drama — and, no surprise, Depp is a fan.
“It looks like where she belongs,” he said. “I always felt like I was supposed to be in a different time and I kind of felt that way about her the first time I saw her. So it looks right and perfect for her.”
Depp will soon have another blonde to gush about on the red carpet: his daughter, Lily-Rose. They both appear in the upcoming Kevin Smith film Yoga Hosers, which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
