John Travolta Says His Daughter Ella Channels Meghan Trainor When Making Decisions: 'The song 'My Name is No, My Number Is No' – That's Her!'
John Travolta is one proud father.
Travolta, 62, opened up about what it's like raising his 16-year-old daughter Ella in the spotlight, saying he's lucky to have such a smart and strong-willed child.
The actor explained that at even such a young age, Ella has already learned how to avoid people who might just be using her for her famous name.
"The song 'My name is no, my number is no…let it go' – that's her," Travolta told PEOPLE at the grand opening of Breitling's New York boutique store last week, referencing Meghan Trainor's hit song "No." "She's smart. She knows if someone has pitch for her because it's her or because it's her name. She can tell the difference."
"And she's gorgeous so anyone would want to be with Ella," added the doting dad. "But I think she's discerning just by her instincts and her nature."
And besides being a good judge of character, Travolta revealed that Ella has also mastered one other important skill: driving.
"I taught her how to drive from the time she was 12," he said.
The actor couldn't help but praise his daughter for her skills behind the wheel.
"We did a stint on the Ellen DeGeneres Show where she had to demonstrate with an old car her ability to park – it was hilarious!," he recalled. "Ellen brings out a big like 1974 ... boat – some Buick thing. Oh my god it was hilarious. But she did a good job."

Travolta, who also shares 5-year-old son Benjamin with wife Kelly Preston, said raising children is part of what has kept their marriage so strong. The couple will celebrate their 25-year anniversary together in September.
"I think sharing children helps because you're outside yourself contemplating their future and their survival, so it gives you a bigger purpose than yourself," he said. "I think that always helps if you're into wanting to take care of others – and we both are."
