Jennifer Hudson and Her ‘Color Purple’ Castmates Pay Tribute to Prince With ‘Purple Rain’

Jennifer Hudson was left “heartbroken and speechless” after initially hearing of Prince’s sudden passing. However, last night, after her performance in Broadway’s The Color Purple concluded, she found the right words to pay tribute to the man who was a personal friend of hers.

After telling a story about Prince, whom she shared the stage with in 2012, inviting her and her castmates to an event he was having, describing it as an honor to be in his presence, Hudson and the rest of the cast delivered an amazing tribute to the 57-year-old singing legend with a cover of his hit “Purple Rain.”

She later posted on Instagram that she was “singing with my heart! N it’s hurt.”

Check out the moving tribute.
