Jennifer Carpenter to star opposite Vince Vaughn in Brawl in Cell Block 99
Dexter actress Jennifer Carpenter has been cast opposite Vince Vaughn in the independent film Brawl in Cell Block 99, EW has confirmed.
Bone Tomahawk director S. Craig Zahler will write and direct the project for XYZ Films. The story will follow a former boxer named Bradley who loses his job as an auto mechanic in the midst of his rocky marriage beginning to crumble. In order to make ends meet, the boxer begins working with an old friend as a drug courier. In turn, he is caught and sent to prison where his enemies from the business force him to engage in deadly battles.
Carpenter, best known for playing Debra Morgan on Dexter, most recently starred on the CBS television series Limitless as Rebecca Harris. Zahler’s cannibal Western, Bone Tomahawk, earned commercial and critical praise last year, including two Independent Spirit Award nominations.
Brawl in Cell Block 99 is currently in pre-production with filming set to begin in September on Staten Island.
