Ivanka Trump, senior advisor to the President of the United States, active campaigner for the Trump administration, and new resident of Washington, D.C., told Fox & Friends Monday that she tries to stay out of politics. Her exact words were, in fact: "I try to stay out of politics." She could probably try harder.

In the months since Trump became president, Ivanka has been the unwavering mollifier of the administration, publicly taking on the roles of "woman," "person with gay friends," and "half-hearted environmentalist" as a thrown bone to the electorate. Her stance has bravely shifted from full support for her father to sometimes-disagreement in her father, as the recent Us Weekly cover story "Why I Disagree with My Dad" said. She makes appearances on state trips, labor conferences, and women's summits, which all carry trappings of the politics she tries to "stay out" of.

Ivanka told Fox News, "I advise my father on a plethora of things," then listed agenda items she's interested in contributing to, like policies for working families and veterans. These do not count as politics, apparently.

She also addressed how nicely she and her father disagree, saying, "We're two different human beings. I think it's normal to not have 100 percent aligned viewpoints on every issue. I don't think anyone operates like that with a parent, or within the context of an administration." She then called for more "dialogue": "I think that all different viewpoints being at the table is a positive thing." But only the glossy, non-critical viewpoints will be acknowledged by her. This article, and a thousand more like it, need not apply.
