Here's Why 'Game of Thrones' Just Had its Most Important Reveal of the Season

From Esquire

One week ago, Bran was being dragged across a frozen wilderness as Hodor died against a door. The big question as he was being chased by an army of undead was how he would actually get away. This week Game of Thrones really delivered. He was saved by a masked stranger who turned out to be Benjen Stark, the brother of Ned Stark, and thought to be dead north of The Wall. Well, it turns out he's not dead and there's a very good reason he's alive. We'll just use this quote to explain it:

A White Walker stabbed me in the gut with a sword of ice ... The Children found me and stopped the Walker's magic from taking hold. The same way they made the Walkers magic in the first place. You saw it yourself.

That clearly means the Starks have some way of defeating the White Walkers. And Benjen is the key.
