Harry Hamlin 'Deeply Sorry' for Offensive Halloween Costume

Actor Harry Hamlin’s Halloween costume hit a seriously wrong note with some people.
The 64-year-old Mad Men alum and his actress wife, Lisa Rinna, attended the Casamigos Halloween bash dressed as troubled punk rock couple Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen. Their looks included lots of leather, black boots, some chains, and, for Hamlin, a red T-shirt featuring a swastika — just like the one Vicious wore to shock in the ‘70s. The Nazi Party’s history of using the swastika as its official symbol during the reign of Adolf Hitler and the Holocaust made the costume this year’s equivalent of Julianne Hough's Orange Is the New Black-inspired number, which included blackface, two years ago.
No less than the Anti-Defamation League — an organization committed to ending the defamation of Jewish people — weighed in on Hamlin’s costume choice. And they weren’t the only ones.
Donning a swastika on Halloween is offensive, regardless of intent @HarryRHamlin; we’re hoping for an apology.

So #harryhamlin went dressed as Sid Vicious, complete with nazi t shirt. When he goes as Kanye next year, will blackface be ok? OFFENSIVE

@HarryRHamlin what were you thinking? That t-shirt you wore on Halloween was offensive and hurtful. An #apology is necessary

By Sunday, Hamlin was calling for peace with a clever T-shirt similar to the one that started the controversy. He and Rinna issued a joint apology via her Instagram account on Monday morning.

He should’ve just gone as Billy Idol and this entire thing could have been avoided…
