Today, Bella Thorne becomes a woman. And she’s celebrating turning 18 in the traditional manner: dinner with family and one friend — “we’re not made of money young lady” — at Applebee’s. Alright, just kidding. The festivities began in earnest when her older, British, TV star boyfriend wrote her a gushy love note on Instagram.

Gregg Sulkin, of MTV’s Faking It, posted the above photo of the two with a lengthy, mushy note:

Happy 18th Birthday to my beautiful and incredible princess. You are such a wonderful, Kind, generous, loving person and you are insanely important to me. Thank you for being that special person in my life that I always wish I could have and for being the best girlfriend on the planet. You have never failed to make me smile or laugh and I hope this year brings you everything you wish for. I’m sure I’ve told you in the past, that personality is everything. However, on top of your charisma and captivating energy, you’re also very very very very good looking. As my dad would say; “boy, you done good”. I love you. Lots. #18thBirthday #Iloveyou #mybubba

As we recently learned on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Bubba is a nickname for North West, so Gregg and Bella are going to need to pick some new pet names, stat.

Copyright issues aside, the two look very happy together; congrats to them both. Some teens have all the luck.

Bella Thorne celebrates her birthday with the cast of ‘Midnight Sun’ (Instagram)

So how is Bella herself spending her birthday? According to her Instagram, she’s on set, filming Midnight Sun, a YA romance based on a 2006 Japanese film. Thorne posted a picture with the cast celebrating her aging out of child labor restrictions day with what looks like a Rice Krispies treat cake.

But that’s not all that’s doing for the big day. The starlet is urging her fans to give back rather than send her gifts. “As you may know, my birthday is in just a few days,” she wrote on Instagram last week. “In lieu of gifts, I’d truly appreciate donations being made to the Boys and Girls Club program SMART Girls. The program focuses on health, fitness and self-esteem for girls ages 8 to 17 and teaches self-worth and loving yourself. Every penny raised will go to the SMART Girls program. … Any donation is appreciated. Much love and many thanks in advance.” Spoken like a grown woman.
