A Game of Thrones Actor Just Shared a Spoiler About a Big, Bloody Scene
In the fourth episode of Game of Thrones' sixth season, King Tommen tells Cersei to beware of the High Sparrow. "There's something I want to tell you, something the High Sparrow told me... I promised him I wouldn't tell anyone. If he found out..."
But he doesn't say what the Sparrow told him. What could it be!? One Redditor has this theory:
It's my belief that the High Sparrow told Tommen about the Tyrells' involvement in Joffrey's murder. Judging by the tears in his eyes when he's about to tell Cersei, it seemed to be the worst possible news. I believe it's Ser Loras who revealed this information as he seemed absolutely broken by his solitary confinement.
Right now, the Lannisters have a pretty rocky alliance with the Tyrells. If Tommen knows of their involvement in Joffrey's death, it could send the Lannisters into all out war with the Tyrells. In the same episode, Cersei and Jaime make a deal with the Tyrells to have their army dispose of the Sparrows and their leader. It sounds like a good plan, at least for the Lannisters, who can clean up what's left of the mess after the city revolts against the Tyrells.
If that's the plan, to betray the Tyrells and kill the Sparrows in one strike, it could help explain this Red Wedding-sounding scene High Sparrow actor Jonathan Pryce described in an interview. The scene is translated from a Polish article that recently appeared on Reddit:
Everyone is waiting impatiently for the process of Cersei, which will be held in Sepcie. They will present it literally everyone. My character has lost some vigilance–is firmly convinced that Cersei appear at his request. When the messengers informed him that he had not left his house, still he believes that will come to the process, because in his opinion should be there. Meanwhile, behind him, and in the immediate vicinity, last scheming and intrigue chasing intrigue. Tension gradually builds up when the giant Sept fills slowly people–great sparrow is still pleased with the turn of events and is confident that everything is going according to plan. No suspects that the fate in store for him a very unpleasant surprise…
From what it sounds like, as the High Sparrow and his religious fanatics wait in the Sept for Cersei's trial she won't show up, and instead will kill everyone inside. Probably with fire, or with The Undead Mountain or something.
