'The Flash': Doctor Alchemy's identity revealed

Killer Frost may have been the centerpiece of Tuesday’s episode of The Flash, but the reveal of Doctor Alchemy’s identity capped off a stellar Kevin Smith-directed hour.
After Barry (Grant Gustin) was able to calm Caitlin’s (Danielle Panabaker) Killer Frost side, he implored Julian (Tom Felton) not to turn her in to the police. Julian agreed on the condition that Barry quit CCPD. Now, Julian has the lab all to himself, which is good, because that’s where he’s been hiding his Doctor Alchemy costume!
While recovering from the Killer Frost attack in the hospital, Julian hears what sounds like Doctor Alchemy calling out to him. Even though Julian earlier expressed anger over not having powers, he was quick to run away from the voice, but didn’t make it far before coming face-to-face with its true owner: Savitar. The God of Motion asked Julian to be his servant once more, because only they can bring about Savitar’s return. That’s right: Julian is Doctor Alchemy.
It’s not much of a surprise, to be honest. Most fans saw this coming quite early into the season. After all, Julian is one of the few characters who was not in the original timeline, nor did he appear in Flashpoint. Instead, he was suddenly Barry’s grumpy meta-hating lab partner in the new timeline.
Even though fans guessed this one early, The Flash writers likely still have a few tricks up their sleeves. “Hopefully, if we ever did anything everybody suspected for a while, there’d still be a twist,” executive producer Greg Berlanti told EW when asked directly if Tom Felton’s character is Doctor Alchemy. (Maybe the twist is that Julian is only begrudgingly Savitar’s lackey?)
Now the question remains whether Julian actually knows that Barry is The Flash. We’ll likely find out in the winter finale, because Team Flash and the heroes of Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl will have their hands full battling the Dominators in next week’s four-way crossover.
