New FBI Intel Suggests Trump Associates May Have Colluded With Russia
Just two days after James Comey's testimony in front of the House Intelligence Committee, U.S. officials allegedly told CNN that the FBI has information indicating communication between President Donald Trump's associates and suspected Russian operatives "to possibly coordinate the release of information" detrimental to Hillary Clinton's campaign.
A source reportedly told CNN that this information is, in part, what Comey was referencing when he told Congress that the FBI is investigating Trump's campaign and its ties to Russia. Reportedly, the FBI is reviewing "human intelligence, travel, business, and phone records and accounts of in-person meetings," and though the information is not conclusive, it's "raising the suspicions" of investigators:
"The information is raising the suspicions of FBI counterintelligence investigators that the coordination may have taken place, though officials cautioned that the information was not conclusive and that the investigation is ongoing."
In addition, one official allegedly told CNN that the information from the investigation suggests "people connected to the campaign were in contact and it appeared they were giving the thumbs up to release information when it was ready." However, other officials added that the inference is "largely circumstancial" and that this conclusion is "premature."
Though the FBI has not proved these ties, the "information suggesting collusion is now a large focus of the investigation," according to the report.
