Elizabeth Banks Helps Honor 'Smoking Hot Boss' Jane Fonda

What’s the opposite of a roast? Because Jane Fonda pretty much got that when she received the Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Saturday and was honored by her friend, Elizabeth Banks.

“In preparing this speech I was planning on coming up here and cracking jokes because that’s what I do and I would inevitably veer into inappropriate territory. Jane likes that kind of thing, but then I realized you do not want to bomb in front of Jane,” Banks said at the event at the Bacara Resort & Spa.

“The first time that I met Jane Fonda, she was wearing a crystal embellished cat suit,” the Pitch Perfect 2 director recalled. “And I thought to myself, ‘That smoking hot boss is on f–king fire.’ … She is a certified broad who collects wonderful women. She is outspoken, no-nonsense, and trailblazing, and she has had enough amazing experiences to fill five lifetimes.”

Banks wasn’t the only star on hand to help present the award to the 77-year-old. Diane Lane also spoke. “Recently, during promotional requirements for a movie, I was asked who Wonder Woman is to me,” she said. “What do you think my answer was? Jane Fonda.”
