Easy Holiday Craft Alert! Make These Adorable Marshmallow Snowmen

Looking for a last-minute craft to do with your kids before the holidays? Celebrations expert Darcy Miller (who is also the woman behind the amazing whimsical touches in Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’s wedding) has an easy idea that doesn’t even require you to turn on the oven: Marshmallow Snowmen.

“Putting something cute on a stick can dress up anything,” says the author of Celebrate Everything. “Plus, you can do them well ahead of your party with your kids.” Miller stuck hers in a piece of styrofoam covered in cotton “snow.” “But you can easily add them as toppers to a cake, or into Rice Krispies treats!” she says.

Here’s how to make them:

From Celebrate Everything

1. Place 3 marshmallows on a wooden skewer or a lollipop stick.

2. For the hat, use royal icing (which dries hard) to attach a Rolo candy to a chocolate coin. Use more icing to attach the hat to the top marshmallow.

3. Make the face and body, using black sprinkles for the eyes and mouth, an orange sprinkle for the nose and silver round sprinkles for the buttons. “You can also draw on the details with food-safe markers,” says Miller (try these Wilton Food Writer Edible Color Markers).

4. Serve on their own, or stick in the confection of your choice, like a frosted layer cake or crispy-rice-cereal treats.
