Drake Dishes On His ‘Real’ Chemistry With Rihanna, Reveals He Doesn't Speak to Nicki Minaj
Drake just released his fourth studio album, Views, and as his music evolves, so are his relationships.
For example, at one point Nicki Minaj and the rapper were collaborating on back-to-back albums, but today he says they’re no longer close.
“I don’t really talk to Nicki. Another person I have a lot of love for,” he said during an interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe on Thursday night. “A lot of love and a lot of respect. Not only for our past and how much work and time we put in but even for the way she dealt with the situation at hand. And you know, I understand what love is and I understand it’s a personal situation.“
The situation he’s referencing was a feud that ignited between Drake and Nicki’s beau, Meek Mill, last summer.
"She dealt with me how I would expect her to-which was with class. And I could only ever do the same,” he said. “I always have respect and love for Nicki and unfortunately, we haven’t spoke but it is what it is even if we don’t speak, she knows what it is. It’s always love."
And then there’s Rihanna. The two have teamed up several times in the past and have sparked romance rumors for years. RiRi even appears on Drake’s new album, and he admits they make magic in the studio.
“I think we do great music together,” he said. “"We’re not forcing some story on people. A lot of the music and energy we have is genuine. We have a genuine energy between us.”
