Colin Farrell’s 7-Year-Old Son Dislikes Donald Trump Because ‘He Keeps Grabbing Those Kittens’

If there’s one good thing to come out of this crazy election, it’s that we got to hear about Colin Farrell’s conversations on politics with his 7-year-old son.

The always charming Irishman, 40, appeared on Thursday’s Ellen DeGeneres Show and talked about the 2016 election. Farrell, who will next be seen in the film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, said that his younger son, Henry, is fully aware of the controversy surrounding GOP hopeful Donald Trump.

“He just wants to know why everyone is being so mean to each other, which is the question on everyone’s lips,” Farrell said. “He completely gets it, he gets the energy, but it’s just so mean.”

And the elementary school kid, whose mom is Polish actress Alicja Bachleda-Curús, just can’t wrap his head around Trump’s political beliefs.

“He wasn’t a huge fan of Trump initially — a little bit because of his hair maybe,” Farrell cracked. “But I think more importantly because of the potential for the mistreatment of Mexicans. That’s nearly verbatim from Henry. Now he can’t stand Trump because I had to explain to him why [he] keeps on being mean to kittens. He just keeps grabbing those kittens.”

Of course Farrell was referring to Trump’s 2005 conversation with Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush about grabbing women “by the p****” when he is romantically interested in them.

Farrell is also the father of a 13-year-old son named James, who has Angelman syndrome. (James’s mom is model Kim Bordenave.) It’s made the actor a passionate advocate for research into the cause of the rare disease, which causes developmental and cognitive disabilities and nerve-related symptoms. He’s called the teen ”nothing but a gift.”
