Chris and Liam Hemsworth’s Thoughtful MANicures: #polishedman

Celebrity hunks like Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, and David Beckham have long been painting their nails, but the practice has gotten even sexier now that the Hemsworth brothers — Chris and Liam — have joined in. That’s because they’re doing it for a good cause.

The easy-on-the-eyes Aussies have brought the Polished Man Challenge to the States. It’s a campaign to end violence against children and to encourage donations to support victims. One in five kids falls victim to physical or sexual violence by the age of 18. The gist is that a polished man doesn’t turn his back on those in need; he raises his voice — and nail. Chris was the first of the brothers to post about it and show off his red digit, which may have come from Elsa Pataky’s vanity.

The Thor star, 33, then stripped down to a tank and challenged his younger brother and a few other celebrity friends to follow suit.

Liam, 26, readily said yes, showing off a bright green finger, a color that is just so Miley Cyrus. He’s rocked polish before (on his toes!), courtesy of his niece, Chris’s daughter.

Zac Efron, 28, clearly feeling inspiRED, also accepted Chris’s challenge, which is spearheaded by not-for-profit YGAP. Fun fact: The Baywatch actor has worn polish before.

And Pretty Little Liars actor Tyler Blackburn, 30, also went green.

Hugh Jackman, Robert Downey Jr., Jimmy Fallon, Jeremy Renner, and Tom Hiddleston are among the other names of the guys they challenged, so look for this campaign to slowly unfold on social media.

The campaign, which launched in 2014, was born after YGAP’s Elliot Costello’s trip to Cambodia for a project with Hagar International. There, he met a girl named Thea who had been abused. Before he left, she painted one of his nails, and he promised that he’d always keep one painted to remember her. Past supporters include Alec Baldwin and Mario Batali, but the campaign is expected to blow up with the Aussie actors — and their A-list friends — getting behind the cause.

So far, $386,096 — and counting — has been raised. People are showing their true colors.
