Chelsea Handler on Donald Trump’s Surprise Win: ‘I Blame the Kardashians’

Chelsea Handler is pretty transparent in her dislike for Donald Trump. But she thinks his surprise win is because of another reality TV powerhouse — the Kardashians.

In a new interview with Variety that touched on the election, she said, “We’ve turned into a reality show. I blame the Kardashians, personally; the beginning of the end was the Kardashians. The way these people have blown up and don’t go away — it’s surreal.”

Not so long ago, Chelsea’s saying that would have been nearly impossible. After all, her old talk show was on E! which plays host to a dizzying number of Kardashian-branded reality shows.

In 2016, the comedian moved to Netflix, where she could politely keep her distance from all things Kardashian. Right? Not exactly.

Last July, Chelsea had Khloé Kardashian on her new show as a guest. Ironically, the episode was a panel of former Celebrity Apprentice contestants who discussed their own experiences butting heads with that show’s host, Donald Trump.

And from her interview with Variety, Chelsea sounds determined to avoid the president-elect like the plague. She said, “I don’t ever want to see Donald Trump. I don’t ever want to interact with him, which won’t be a problem.”

When asked about her show’s role during the Trump era, Chelsea simply said, “We have to make fun of him.”
