Brave New World: Grant Morrison, Brian Taylor adapting novel for SyFy
This fits to a Model T: Comic book writer Grant Morrison and writer-director Brian Taylor are set to helm an adaptation of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World for SyFy.
Huxley's 1931 classic imagines a sterilized future in which war and illness are all but obsolete — but they come at the expense of art, creativity, and emotional expression. Citizens keep unpleasant feelings at bay with mind-altering drugs, natural reproduction is replaced by genetic engineering, and consumerism is the only religion, until one outsider speaks up and upsets the whole system. Modern Library ranked Brave New World at No. 5 on its list of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century.
The series is being developed by Universal Cable Productions with Amblin Television. Morrison (Batman, The Invisibles) and Taylor (Crank, Gamer) replace Les Bohem, who was attached when the series was first announced in 2015. The duo will also serve as executive producers, along with Amblin Television co-presidents Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey.
