No wardrobe malfunctions here!
Jennifer Lawrence avoided any drama – unless you call raves drama – by wearing pants to the Santa Barbara International Film Festival this weekend.
The “Silver Linings Playbook” star created quite a stir and no small amount of confusion when her Christian Dior Couture gown did some funky folding at the SAG Awards last month, but everything remained in its rightful place Saturday. Lawrence rocked a navy blue-and-black Stella McCartney strapless jumpsuit from her Fall 2013 collection when she appeared to accept an award for “Most Outstanding Performer of the Year.”
The 22-year-old actress has consistently been applauded for her fashion choices throughout her career – including this awards season and 2011’s. No doubt she was a bit more comfortable than she’s been most weekends of late, when she’s had to don form-fitting, weighty gowns.
During the event, she spoke of being scouted by a modeling agency, but deciding she really wanted to become an actress instead.
"In the car from the hotel to the modeling agency I decided that I didn’t want to be a model that I was only going to be an actress," she explained. "And that I’d only sign with an agency that would let me act. And so I was turning down all these agencies and my mother thought I was an idiot.”
Lawrence also talked about her decision to accept the coveted role of Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games” franchise, as well as her position as a role model.
“It’s a great feeling,” she said. “Fortunately, I don’t have a secret life I have to worry about getting out, so I can enjoy it.”
Indeed, Lawrence’s big secret at the moment may be a decision she has yet to make: what she’ll wear to the Academy Awards ceremony on February 24 when she walks the red carpet with her parents on her arms. The fashion world and otherwise will be waiting with bated breath to see what the rising style icon will choose.
