While Kanye West has been holed up in a recording studio in Paris for the past several months, he has left his 7-month pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian mostly alone to face some harsh criticism in the media, mostly about her weight gain and fashion choices.
However, in New York City on Monday night at the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, West, 35, very publicly praised his ladylove in front of the A-List crowd, telling Kardashian to ignore the haters.
"Don't let nobody bring you down, you're so awesome, you're so awesome!" West rapped to Kardashian while performing new music at the punk themed bash.
And the crowd took notice, too.
"Kanye telling Kim not to worry what anyone says that she's awesome. Quite touching really," supermodel Coco Rocha shared on Vine (you can watch a snippet of the performance here).
Kardashian, 32, clearly appreciated the sentiment. "Baby you're AWESOME," she later posted on Instagram along with this photo of West performing.
Kardashian wore a long Givenchy flower printed dress with a high slit and matching gloves and sandals to the Met Ball last night, and the reality mogul has been getting panned by bloggers, newspapers and fashion critics for the look.
Judging from her Twitter, she took her boyfriend's advice to heart. Instead, the reality diva posted pictures that showed herself hanging with Madonna and Beyoncé.

Looks like Kardashian is getting the last laugh, after all.
