"Wild Horses" couldn't drag Johnny Depp away from Amber Heard!
While "The Rum Diary" co-stars have yet to acknowledge that they are in a romantic relationship, it sure looked that way at Saturday's surprise Rolling Stones concert at the Echoplex in Los Angeles. They were photographed holding hands backstage at the show -- the 49-year-old's tattooed mitt gripping the 27-year-old's shiny red digits.
This is the first real sign of PDA between the apparent couple, who grew close working on the 2011 film based on the Hunter S. Thompson novel. In the film, he played Paul Kemp, an author having trouble selling his book, who lands a job at a newspaper in Puerto Rico; she was Chenault, the object of his affection. Here they are getting flirty in a scene:
When Depp confirmed last June that he and Vanessa Paradis, his girlfriend of 14 years and the mother of his two children, had split, he was immediately linked to Heard. Various reports stated she traveled with him to promote "Dark Shadows" last year -- and she was seen exiting a private plane with him in Las Vegas. Around the same time it was also reported that "The Lone Ranger" star bought Heard a horse so they could ride together.
However, Heard -- who is openly bisexual -- was in a long-term relationship with artist Tasya van Ree. More recently there were rumors linking her to model Marie de Villepin. As far as her relationship philosophy, she told AfterEllen.com, "I’m with who I’m with, I love who I love."
Depp's own relationship history has painted him as a bit of a serial monogamist. In the early 1980s, he was briefly married to Lori Anne Allison. What followed were a string of broken engagements: He dated Sherilyn Fenn for three years following his 1985 divorce, Jennifer Grey (1989), Winona Ryder (1989 to 1992), and Kate Moss (1984 to 1998). It was after his relationship with the British supermodel ended that he started dating Paradis in 1998. They have two children, Lily-Rose (born 1999) and Jack (2002).
While neither Depp nor Heard is speaking out about their apparent coupling, Heard did gush about the actor while doing the press junket for "The Rum Diary," saying, "Johnny is a wonderful person to work with. He is just a true artist and so wonderful to be around. I'm very lucky."
