Rihanna goes topless on cover of latest album

Rihanna really exposes herself on her new album — and we're not talking about lyrics.

The Barbadian beauty revealed the artwork for her seventh studio album, Unapologetic, earlier today on Twitter. In the photo, Rihanna — rocking her newly-shorn hairstyle — is topless. A strategically placed elbow and PhotoShopped graffiti-style words — including the title of the album as well as "love," "chalice," and "fearless" — ensure she doesn't completely bare all.

What is fully on display on the album cover is the 24-year-old singer's gigantic new tattoo. Positioned beneath her chest is the Egyptian goddess Isis, which the body art lover added last month in tribute to her late grandmother, Clara "Dolly" Brathwaite, who died in June after battling cancer.

The title of the album, Unapologetic, seems to be in line with Rihanna's attitude these days. She has controversially rekindled a relationship with her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, who was convicted of felony assault after viciously attacking her in 2009. While Rihanna has maintained that they are friends, they have been seen together frequently as of late, and Brown posted a video on Twitter last week making it clear that he's still in love with her.

Personal drama aside, Rihanna seems to be going through a nude phase. In addition to this album cover, she also appears nearly naked in the ad campaign for her new perfume, which is appropriately titled … Nude. Wearing a blond wig, Rihanna strikes a sultry pose in skimpy lingerie. She's also been tweeting a number of revealing photos of herself lately, including one that was taken at a strip club. While she's not topless in the X-rated pic, a stripper, who is leaning back between someone's thighs while covered in dollar bills, is.

Interestingly enough, it seems topless album covers are shaping up to be a new fall trend. Christina Aguilera recently released the artwork for her long awaited album, Lotus. On the cover, she's nude as well with her hair covering parts of her upper body, while her bottom half is blurred by a smoky effect.

Both women are releasing their albums within a week of one another with Aguilera's Lotus coming out first on November 13, followed by Rihanna's Unapologetic on November 19.
