Ariel Winter will now be fully experiencing the joys of ... Los Angeles gridlock.
The 15-year-old "Modern Family" star was in celebration mode Wednesday after she scored her learner's permit at a Los Angeles DMV.
"I PASSED. I PASSED. I PASSED I PASSED I PASSED!" she wrote on Instagram, along with a selfie in which she's holding up her official paperwork. "I am now a permitted driver. be scared. Actually don't be...I'm a safe driving nerd. YAY!! #soexcited #driving #permit #ipassed #ICANDRIVE #thisjusthappened #proud #eeeeeeep"
While joking about the "be scared" bit, that comment resonated with her TV big sister, Sarah Hyland, who shot back, "I'm terrified."
Winter's passing grade was especially exciting because it wasn't the first time she was taking the test.
"I actually failed the first time," Winter tweeted. "I passed on the second time. :) #secondtimeiscooltoo."
Having as normal a childhood as possible has been a priority for Winter, whose life as a child star, complete with a $6 million contract on a hit TV show, has been anything but. However, a change in her guardianship — from her mother, whom the actress alleged was physically and emotionally abusing her (her mom denied the allegations), to her sister — has given her a fresh start. In addition to getting her learner's permit, earlier this year she started attending school after being home schooled for most of her life.
"I have all these crazy ideas of what I want to be — I would be an FBI agent or a forensic scientist if I weren't an actor or singer," she told Teen Vogue earlier this year. "Or I'll just go to film school and I'll be a director and a writer. I guess I'm a bit of a dreamer."
A dreamer? Maybe. A driver? Absolutely!
