We've missed this smiling face!
For the first time in more than a year, Sandra Bullock hit the red carpet, representing at the London premiere of Minions on Thursday. The 50-year-old didn't disappoint either, popping in a leg-showcasing, black and paisley print dress by Stella McCartney paired with skinny, strappy sandals. The actress's brunette locks were pin straight and she went fairly natural with her makeup, including a light lip, but had a dramatic — and sexy — smoky eye.
So where has Ms. B been hiding out for the last 365? Well, the last time we saw her doing the red carpet thing was on June 6, 2014, at the AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Jane Fonda event in Hollywood. A day later, her hotness was celebrated at Spike TV's Guys Choice 2014, but she skipped the carpet festivities.
Perhaps the timing of her drop off from the public eye is no coincidence. In the early morning of June 8, 2014, Bullock — home from the Guys Choice Awards — was the victim of a crazed stalker who invaded her home.
Just hours after the Guys Choice Awards, Bullock returned home and, while getting ready to catch some winks in her bedroom, the "fan" broke into her Los Angeles home. The single mom's son, Louis, was not home and she was able to hide behind a safe door in her closet as Joshua James Corbett roamed around clutching a love letter he wrote her. A search of Corbett's home turned up an arsenal of illegal weapons, including assault weapons and machine guns.
Since then, coincidence or not, Sandra has stayed largely out of the public eye. Sightings of her have been mostly school runs with Louis, 5. She was also spotted out trick-or-treating with the tot in her sock monkey costume. (The little fella is sure to love his mom's new movie, which is a Despicable Me spin-off.)
In the fall, Bullock — who also turned 50 during her time away from the carpet — got back to work, shooting the film Our Brand Is Crisis in Puerto Rico.
Staying out of the limelight didn't keep her off Forbes' list of Highest Earning Actresses of 2014 though. In August, the magazine reported that the Gravity star pulled in $51 million last year. No doubt a fraction of that went to adding security at her Los Angeles home after the break-in. She sounded terrified in her 911 call, which was released earlier this year.
In April, Bullock was named People magazine's Most Beautiful Woman. She talked about life these days, which revolved around carpools and play dates for her son, but also some deep conversations.
One such chat was Bullock "listening to [Louis] tell me why he was going to marry his girlfriend," she told the mag. "But then we were having Sunday dinner, and he said he changed his mind. I just told him, 'Always love those who want to love you back and are nice to you.' Then we moved back to Legos and 'Why are you making me eat broccoli?'"
Her chats with Louis sound like much more fun than red carpets, don't they? No wonder she's stayed away so long. Still, we're certainly happy to see her.
