Ed Sheeran may be a Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, but if that ever falls through, he might have a career in matchmaking!
In an interview with omg! U.K., Sheeran, 22, opens up about how he set pal Courteney Cox, 49, up with his roommate, Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid, 37.
"I wasn't allowed to talk about this, actually, but it's just gone public so ... My housemate [Johnny], who I have lived with for a year, I introduced him to Courteney and they started dating - now they're crazy about each other," Ed explains.
Courteney and Johnny first sparked dating rumors when they were photographed leaving Jennifer Aniston's annual holiday party together.
"I ended up spending a lot of time living in [Courteney’s] beach house and therefore bumping into all these random people," Sheeran goes on to say about his new "Friends." "We spent Thanksgiving eve at Jennifer's before spending the day at Courteney's.”
Ed isn’t the only celebrity who has played cupid for his famous friends.
In fact, Sheeran’s tour mate, Taylor Swift, was introduced to one of her infamous exes by none other than Gwyneth Paltrow. (Who, fun fact, was also at Jennifer Aniston's holiday bash … not so small world!)
The Oscar-winning actress hosted a private dinner party in London for Taylor and Jake Gyllenhaal in November 2010.
"It's so weird. I wonder how people find out these things," Gwyneth told USA Today at the time. "I've just known Jake for a long time and he's a great guy, and Chris has a friendship with Taylor."
We all know how that ended (cough, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"). But don't worry, G … it's the thought that counts!
A few other celebs that have played matchmaker with no happy ending?
Over the summer, Julianne Hough set up her BFF Nina Dobrev with brother Derek Hough, although it was more of a summer fling than real thing. Donatella Versace set up Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez, and Rob Kardashian is who urged Khloé Kardashian to give Lamar Odom a chance.
Here’s hoping things go better for Courteney and Johnny.
