Color us stunned! Miley Cyrus hit the red carpet Tuesday night and she was, well, clothed.
The 20-year-old "Wrecking Ball" singer looked glamorous and sophisticated on the red carpet at the 30th Annual Night of Stars event at Cipriani Wall Street in Manhattan. She wore a Marc Jacobs dress to present the Superstar Award to the designer. The shimmery green backless gown was floor-length and featured a halter-top.
Cyrus rounded out her dazzling look with Saint Laurent shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Her makeup was minimal — with a clear gloss on her lips — but she added a tiny blast of color with fire-engine red nails.
The star's high-fashion look is a big deal because it's the most we've seen her wearing in a long time. While promoting "Bangerz," she's preferred barely-there ensembles, like the sheer football jersey-style black "poison" dress she wore the night she hosted "Saturday Night Live," the white crop top — with star-shaped nipple covers — and ripped pants she wore to a party at NYC's Planet Hollywood, and the pink lingerie-inspired getup she wore to another party the same night.
In the October issue of Harper's Bazaar, Cyrus talked about how she travels everywhere with a "kit," a gym bag containing over-the-top accessories, including Chanel logo suspenders and belts, Versace Medusa necklaces and brooches, spiked stilettos, hats, and flashy gold chains, to punch up her look.
"I never know when I'm going to be like, 'Photo shoot!' And need some weird stuff to whip out," she said of her style. "What if I get to a photo shoot and the stylist just sucks? So I bring my own s--t."
In the same interview, she talked about her music video style, saying, "I feel like every girl is trying to have a beauty shot and prove that they're 'fashion.' But I can be in white leggings and a white sports bra and I'm on a whole other level of s--t that those girls don't even get yet because they don't know how to do it."
We know Miley's trying to be edgy and experimental — after all, she is only 20 — but it's refreshing to see her turn up the style like she did last night. We'll take polished over pasties any day.
