Mariah Carey is bringing holiday cheer a little earlier than usual this year. However, instead of sharing the joy of the season, she's spreading the delight of her new single, "The Art of Letting Go," in a big way with a few of her superfans.
The songstress teamed up with Jimmy Fallon on his late night show Tuesday to surprise her very dedicated fans at what was supposed to be an exclusive listening party for her latest record. While the many men and women in attendance were giddy with excitement just hearing the song, it was no comparison to their reaction when they got to see Mimi in person.
The former "American Idol" judge began by singing in a small room with a few of her backup singers to give the feel of a real recorded song. But halfway through the lyrics, the mother of two walked out of the booth to shock her fans, eliciting screams, tears, and smiles galore.
While she and Jimmy pulled off the surprise quite well, this is not the first time the two have created a memorable moment.
Mariah joined Jimmy and the Roots last December to sing her hit holiday song, "All I Want for Christmas Is You," using children's toy instruments like a xylophone, a kazoo, and a recorder.
