Shailene Woodley turned heads at the London premiere of "Divergent" on Sunday when she hit the red carpet in a sultry, aquamarine Stella McCartney gown.
The 22-year-old actress was striking in the ultra-feminine gown, which featured a plunging lace-trimmed neckline and a deep diamond cutout in the back with the same trim. The dress hugged her sleek physique and looked exceptionally elegant with a fishtail hemline and train.
The California-bred star polished off her look with a minimalist gold pendant necklace and her favorite gold Lina Noel armlet. She kept her makeup natural and styled her pixie-cut hair into a deep side part, which drew attention to her exquisite facial structure.
Woodley's gown, which retails for $4,000, is quite a departure from her everyday wardrobe, which often consists of jean shorts and five-finger running shoes. The longtime environmental activist revealed that she "exclusively buys used clothes" and shuns many mainstream brands when it comes to her personal style.
"I'm going to be a citizen of this planet, and I'm going to do my responsibility and live in stride with nature instead of constantly fighting against her," Woodley explained in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
However she's willing to make exceptions for red carpet events. "If I was to show up wearing my five-toe shoes, my Melodia organic leggings and some hippie top, no one is going to take me seriously," she said. "When I go on a red carpet, I’m Shailene, but I’m also Shailene representing a movie. I’m there for my boss, for my employer, so part of that comes with wearing the uniform."
Woodley, who has made headlines for her alternative lifestyle which includes foraging for her own food and going without a cell phone, says she prefers to keep her style understated and utilitarian.
