Breaking up is hard. In Hollywood, it's harder. And when your famous spouse cheated on you with a co-star and you had no idea, it's harder still. But that's exactly what happened to Dean Sheremet when his then-wife, LeAnn Rimes, revealed her infidelity.
During an appearance on "Access Hollywood" Thursday, Dean said he was completely caught off guard when Rimes told him of her affair with Eddie Cibrian while the two were making the TV movie "Northern Lights."
"I never saw it coming," Sheremet, a dancer-turned-chef, reflected. Which isn't all that surprising in light of the fact that LeAnn and and Dean knew Eddie and his wife, Brandi Glanville, well and had actually gone on a double date at a Los Angeles sushi spot. Ouch.
Dean explained that LeAnn called him to casually mention that a magazine "may or may not have a picture of me and Eddie kissing." His response was pretty much the same as ours would have been.
"What do you mean, 'May or may not have a picture?' What does that mean?" he asked, adding, "It unfolded from there."
Even after the bomb dropped, however, he had a hard time believing it was true.
"You have that assumption that the person that you're with would never do something like that," he lamented before adding, "It's fine because I've really laid low during the whole thing. It's part of my story, and it's the reason that I get to do awesome cooking segments. Whatever it is that gets me in the door, is fine. I'm really a chef!"
He's not only a chef, he's a husband, too. With his divorce behind him, the 32-year-old tied the knot with photographer Sarah Silver in August 2011, just four months after LeAnn and Eddie walked down the aisle, giving the tale of heartbreak a semblance of a Hollywood ending.
