Josh Brolin Talks ‘Gangster Squad’ Real-Life Parallels

"omg! Insider" correspondent Mary Kitchen sat down with Josh Brolin of “Gangster Squad” to talk about the parallels between violence in the movie and in real life.

The gritty police-detective film chronicles the Los Angeles Police Department's fight to save the city from a power-hungry East Coast mobster in the 1940s.

Back when the flick was filming, no one could have predicted that one sequence, which featured gangsters shooting up a movie theater, would echo so true to the reality of the last year's “Dark Knight Rises” massacre in Aurora, Colorado. And now, as the film prepares to debut on January 11, another gun-related tragedy is front and center in the form of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
