Jimmy Kimmel is gearing up for fatherhood a second time around.
The late-night host, 46, revealed that he is expecting a baby with wife Molly McNearney, 35, during an interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" set to air this Wednesday.
"I'm having a baby … wait I want to finish … with Ellen," Kimmel joked, before clarifying to the audience that it's with his bride of seven months, who also happens to be a co-writer on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
This will be the first child for the couple, who wed last July, but the third for Kimmel, who has two children — daughter Katie, 22, and son Kevin, 20 — from his previous marriage.
Though he's already experienced parenthood, Kimmel told DeGeneres he's "really forgotten everything" about taking care of a little one. "It's funny because I was just with some friends [John Krasinski and Emily Blunt] who just had a baby I was like, 'Oh, ya.' And there's new ways to do things. You hold them by the front of the neck now it seems."
In addition to learning the latest baby techniques, he and his kids are also going to have to adjust to him being an "old dad." "I told my daughter, 'Listen, there's only so much love I have to give. You're gonna have to split it up with the new kid. There's a finite amount of love and that's that,'" he teased. "So [my children] are dealing with it, but it is very weird at my age to, you know … I'm going to be one of those old dads."
As for the sex of his unborn child, Jimmy noted, "I would like it to be a surprise and my wife Molly was happy with that idea until about a week ago. She started saying we really need to find out. But I don't think it matters. I don't think you need to make the baby's room blue or pink. It's inherently ridiculous. I don't think they [can] even see colors, right?"
But while Kimmel's not into picking out nursery colors, he is excited to pick out baby names. "I like the name Karate. I think Karate Kimmel has a great ring to it. And I like, you know, the Kardashians with the two Ks thing. It's nice."
