Jake T. Austin is a long way from "Waverly Place."

A car belonging to the 18-year-old former cast member of the Disney Channel show "The Wizards of Waverly Place," which starred Selena Gomez, caused a four-car crash at 3:20 a.m. Tuesday in Sherman Oaks, California, according to Richard French, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department. However, it's unclear who was at the wheel of the vehicle as it smashed into three parked cars along Riverside Drive because the driver abandoned the car on impact.

The vehicle remains impounded and police are still investigating what's considered a hit-and-run accident. No one has been charged.

Both People and TMZ report that Austin, who currently stars on the Jennifer Lopez-produced ABC Family show "The Fosters," was charged with a DUI last month while driving the same car.

The actor's rep did not respond to omg!'s request for comment.

In May, Glamaholic magazine asked him in an interview about how he planned to transition from the goofy little brother on a Disney show into a adult actor — would it be an obvious switch?

"I want my fans to grow with me," he said. "Some kids from Disney try to change their image in order for people to take them more seriously, but it's really just about being passionate about your work while keeping in mind that most of your fans are young."

When he was asked if knowing that he had young fans required him to choose roles more carefully, Austin was clear with his response.

"Having young fans definitely means having more responsibility in your personal and professional life," he said.

Although he starred in a darker independent film, "Grantham & Rose," earlier this year, Austin's next two roles are in kid-friendly flicks. He has a voiceover role alongside Anne Hathaway and Jamie Foxx in the animated "Rio 2," and portrays Huck Finn in a new version of "Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn," which also stars Val Kilmer as Mark Twain.
