Anastasia Steele … is that you?
Dakota Johnson was spotted at the Grove in Los Angeles on Monday, showing off her darker side with a brand new, fully brunette 'do and looking just like the "quiet beauty" that Anastasia is described being as in "Fifty Shades of Grey."
But that's not the only glimpse of the starlet as the lead in the highly-anticipated book adaptation that we're getting today. Johnson and her co-star, Jamie Dornan, grace the cover of Entertainment Weekly this week … in character!
The image shows Jamie, impeccably dressed as Christian and holding the requisite silk tie. Dakota looks every bit the petite, gorgeous, and alluring Anastasia that fans of the book grew to love. Both actors also shared their thoughts on performing some of the steamier, sexier scenes in the film.
Jamie revealed that his background has helped him prepare for the part. "I grew up in a very liberal place. I'm not saying we had a playroom, but I'm not shocked by [the sex in the book]," the 31-year-old said. "It's essential to tell the story. I can't believe films that don't invoke the sexual side of it. So it works for me."
While Jamie seems ready for the part, Dakota admitted that her upcoming sex scenes are inspiring her to get in shape. "Obviously, I want to look good naked," the actress, 24, said. "I totally understand now why people exercise, because it kind of f---ing feels awesome."
In other "Fifty Shades" news, Universal Pictures announced Wednesday that the film is now set to start shooting in December and will be pushing back its release date. The movie was originally slated to arrive in theaters in August 2014, but now won't bow until Feb. 13, 2015.
According to Deadline.com, this much later release date makes a great deal of sense for a few reasons. Not only is February 13th directly coinciding with the Valentine’s day, but it runs into President’s Day and “giving the sexy film a four-day weekend to establish staying power.” The benefits of pushing back the date span internationally as well. The original time frame was scheduled for right after the World Cup had concluded and according to the site, film studios have learned to avoid releasing films around the tournament, finding it difficult for audiences to stray their attention away from soccer.
