Dakota and Elle Fanning have always shown maturity beyond their years … and now they have the wardrobe to match!
The acting sisters have been tapped as the beautiful new faces of J.Estina's fall 2013 ad campaign and appear together in a series of photos showing off the jewelry and handbag line's newest offerings. But unlike some of the risqué ads of their peers — for example, Rihanna's stripped down photo for her perfume Nude and even Dakota's own controversial Marc Jacobs campaign for the fragrance Oh, Lola! — the young women are especially buttoned up
The teen twosome look more like mature businesswoman than young Hollywood stars in the photos. Elle, who is only 15, wears a sophisticated cream-colored suit jacket and a pearl necklace in one photo in which her hair is styled in a headband. In another shot, the high schooler is wearing the same suit but holding a handbag over her shoulder ... almost as if she's posing for cover of Forbes's Most Powerful Women issue.
Big sister Dakota, 19, also gives off an air of sophistication while wearing pearls and a square neck cream dress that also looks so business-like we almost expect it to boast shoulder pads. A second photo shows the "Twilight" actress in a beige pencil skirt and blouse, and she's toting a large red purse.
Just two years ago, Dakota, then 17, was making headlines for a print campaign that was decidedly different. The Advertising Standards Authority in the U.K. banned a Marc Jacobs perfume ad that showed her sitting with an oversized perfume bottle positioned between her legs, deeming them "sexually provocative."
In an interview earlier this year, Dakota said she was surprised by the ban — and ended up having a good laugh over the drama.
"If you want to read something into a perfume bottle, then I guess you can. But it's also like, Why are you making it about that, you creep?" she told Glamour. "I love Marc and trust him, and we just laughed about it."
Well, she won't have to worry about the same thing happening this time. In this set of ads, she and her sister are the poster girls for conservative style.
