Looks like Britney Spears is ready to try her luck in Sin City!
TMZ reports that the pop star has sparked a bidding war among three Las Vegas properties for a residency, and says rumors that Spears has been offered a $200 million deal from Caesars Palace are not true.
In a statement to omg!, the resort says that, "Caesars Entertainment is engaged with a number of today's top artists in discussions regarding headlining residencies at our venues in Las Vegas. We are always interested in having artists with the caliber of Britney Spears performing at our theaters and will respond in more detail if and when it's appropriate to do so."
Hmm. Wherever she ends up, the 31-year-old stands to gain a huge payday if she were to take on a residency in the gambling mecca. Celine Dion just inked a deal reportedly worth $100 million for an additional three years of shows at Caesars Palace. Don't as many people like "Till the World Ends" as "My Heart Will Go On"?
Robin Leach — the same guy who once added his British accent to the TV series "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" — writes in the Las Vegas Sun that negotiations are in "a very serious stage." A source tells Leach that a deal is "far more likely than ever before. She wants to do it. If all the pieces come together for a mini-residency and several weekend engagements through the year as wanted, it will finally happen."
The deal could be just the thing that Spears needs right now. She's coming off a breakup with fiance and co-conservator Jason Trawick, and she's just left her seat at the judges' table on "The X Factor," possibly to avoid being fired.
A new gig in Vegas could be good for her professionally and personally. As Dion explained to Vegas magazine's September issue, a standing show gives artists a less hectic life. She admits to sleeping until 10 a.m. most mornings and hanging out with her husband and three sons in the afternoons before her nightly concerts.
"Vegas, hah, people think that we raise our kids on the craps table," Dion tells the mag. "What are they thinking? People have families here, they have jobs, they go to work. Vegas has given our family stability. It feels cozy."
Do you think Brit should go to Sin City?
