The Biggest Celebrity Scandals of 2013

Celebrities are no stranger to controversy, and 2013 was a doozy! Phil Robertson, the patriarch of "Duck Dynasty," found himself in hot water in December after making antigay remarks in the January issue of GQ magazine. His comments went viral and sparked a fiery response from GLADD. The gay advocacy group issued a statement that said, "Phil and his family claim to be Christian, but Phil's lies about an entire community fly in the face of what true Christians believe. He clearly knows nothing about gay people or the majority of Louisianans — and Americans — who support legal recognition for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples. Phil's decision to push vile and extreme stereotypes is a stain on A&E and his sponsors who now need to reexamine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families."

A&E has suspended Phil indefinitely from filming "Duck Dynasty" and said his personal views do not reflect that of the network.

Paula Deen also found herself in trouble this year after she admitted during a deposition that she had "of course" used the N-word among allegations that she had hoped to have an all-black team of waiters serve the guests at her brother's plantation-themed wedding. Paula lost her Food Network contract as well as her partnerships with QVC and Smithfield Foods shortly after her comments were leaked.

Julianne Hough caught some major flak when she donned blackface makeup and went as Crazy Eyes from the Netflix dramedy "Orange Is the New Black" to a Halloween party in Beverly Hills.

The 25-year-old quickly apologized on Twitter, writing, "I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize."
