When you’re Captain America, you can use superpowers to get what you want. But if you’re the actor who plays Captain America, well, you’ve got to rely on cash.
“The Avengers” star Chris Evans shelled out an extra $20,000 over the asking price to ensure that the 31-year-old got the Los Angeles home he had his eye on, ultimately paying $3.52 million for the 4,600-square-foot home perched on a ridge in the Hollywood Hills' Laurel Canyon neighborhood, according to real estate website Zillow.
The last owner apparently flipped the 3-bedroom, 4-bathroom house, purchasing it in June 2012 for $1.901 million and listing it just eight months later for $3.5 million. And it looks like that seller pulled out all the stops. Though the agent who listed the home refused to comment for this story, the listing materials state that the “walled and gated” estate now features celeb-worthy upgrades like radiant heat, a master suite with dressing room, a bathroom covered in limestone and imported Italian Calcutta marble, a fire pit, pool, spa, and a deck made of exotic ipe wood for taking in those city views.
While the team of folks that renovated the home certainly did a bang-up job, they also, it seems, really liked the color pink, dousing the entire living room and kitchen (walls and cathedral ceilings) in the pastel hue.
Whatever the color, the extraordinary kitchen is a drool-worthy chef’s dream and the list of features reads like an ultra-high-end appliance catalog. There’s a 60” Wolf range, double Thermador dishwashers, two Sub-Zero refrigerators (one for food and one for wine), a 10-foot custom vent hood stretching over the entire island, and a built-in Miele coffee maker. We can just imagine Evans cooking up gourmet meals in there … after he puts up a fresh coat of paint of course.
