Oprah Winfrey has once again proven she is still TV’s reigning queen.
Her network, OWN, announced last night that Lance Armstrong has agreed to a sit down tell-all interview with Winfrey. This marks his first interview since last October when Armstrong was stripped of all 7 of his Tour de France titles.
In a press release on Oprah’s website, she says that Armstrong will address the alleged doping scandal, the years of accusations of cheating, and the charges of lying about his use of performance-enhancing drugs throughout his storied cycling career.
Armstrong has previously always strongly denied there was any truth to the doping allegations. Oprah’s interview takes place at his home in Austin, Texas, although it is unclear whether or not the sit down has already taken place.
The special 90-minute episode of “Oprah’s Next Chapter” will air Thursday, January 17 at 9pm on OWN.
Searches on Yahoo! for Armstrong are up 342% in the past week, with the most searched term being “Lance Armstrong admission.”
