Katy Perry is often more whimsical than stylish, but earlier this year the "Wide Awake" singer went glam in a sheer ivory design from Temperley London. Just five months later, one-time pop star Ashlee Simpson chose to make the same dress a hit! Perry's obviously a much more in-demand musician these days, but can she triumph over Simpson when it comes to fashion? It's time for us to decide ... who wore it best?!
Perry, 27, donned the delicate design for the 29th Annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards in L.A. on April 18, where she was recognized for penning her songs "Firework" and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)." The songstress accessorized with several pearl bracelets and shimmery hair accessories in her dark 'do.

Simpson, 28, stepped out in the frock for HBO's bash following the 2012 Emmy Awards, where her boyfriend Vincent Piazza's series "Boardwalk Empire" was one of the shows honored. Doesn't the dress, which she wore with a gold Judith Leiber clutch and long earrings, look like something we'd see on the Prohibition-era show?
This flapper-style number is a lot of fun! I especially like the way Simpson's garment is a little loose — the way a dress like that is supposed to fit. What I don't like, however, is the droopy placement of Perry's shoulder strap, which may have fallen off her shoulder by accident. I also think Simpson's coif goes better with the dress than Perry's 'do. So for me, Simpson handily wins this style showdown. What do you think?
