Emily VanCamp Talks About Her Dream Man (Gamers and Stoners Need Not Apply)

On the ABC drama "Revenge," vengeful vigilante Emily Thorne has her pick of male suitors — from scruffily handsome bar owner Jack Porter to the wildly different Daniel Grayson, who's the preppy, rich son of her archrival — and it doesn't seem the hot love triangle will end anytime soon. So what qualities is her real-life counterpart Emily VanCamp looking for in a guy? Well, for one, that he has daddy potential.

"I think women look for that quality in a man of being a good dad whether they're immediately wanting to be a parent or not," the 25-year-old Canadian actress, who has been linked to her TV love interest Josh Bowman (Daniel), says in the June issue of Lucky. "It's important to me that a man is good at taking care of people."

VanCamp, who tells the magazine she'd like to have children when she's around 30, is also very clear on the qualities she isn't looking for in man. "I'll tell you one thing I don't want," she says. "A guy who sits around and plays video games and smokes pot." Shaking her head, she adds: "Though I think every young woman needs to have one boyfriend who really disappoints her, who really breaks her heart."

Relatively new to the spotlight — she had roles in "Everwood" and "Brothers & Sisters" — VanCamp has said she's been struggling with fame since her show caught on with viewers after it debuted last September. "It's so great to have all this stuff happen to you," she says. "But you know, to all of a sudden have photographers snapping photos of you, it's a big change. I see pictures of myself I had no idea were being taken. I'm generally very aware of what's going on around me, and I really don't know where they hide."

Although she says she's inexperienced when it comes to stardom, she certainly seems schooled in PR 101 because, despite the interviewer's best attempt, VanCamp wouldn't confirm or deny that she's dating Bowman, 23, who she was seen making out with on New Year's Eve and later photographed kissing at the deli counter in a Los Angeles supermarket. (One of omg!'s editors also spotted them getting lovey-dovey at a CVS store in L.A.) However, she does tell the magazine more than once that he's a great guy.

VanCamp is slightly more forthcoming when it comes to sharing details about her juicy TV series about the Hampton elite, which returned to the air at the end of April following a seven-week hiatus. Most notably, the show is going to get much darker. "We're going to go into the past and see all the crazy stuff that happened in Emily's life that brought her to the point where she feels these people deserve to be punished," she tells the magazine. And her character will be decidedly less glam in the coming episodes. "I'm going to be spending a lot of time in a juvenile-detention center in a dark wig," she notes.

The June issue of Lucky is on newsstands May 8.
