Bill Nye Made a $20,000 Bet to Shut Up Climate Change Deniers

From Esquire

Climate change deniers are frustrating, especially for someone like Bill Nye. It's like he's reasoning with a brick wall. But if the fate of the Earth doesn't raise the stakes high enough, then maybe $20,000 would.

It started with a 2010 debate on-where else?-The O'Reilly Factor. Nye, Science Guy, debated Joe Bastardi, meteorologist and vocal climate change denier. Nye won, because science. Then, last November, Bastardi published an article in The Patriot Post refuting Nye's argument and offering some handy graphs he said proved carbon dioxide is not heating the planet. Yesterday, Nye responded with the above video.

Once again, Nye out-sciences Bastardi, which isn't surprising. He also bets Bastardi outright, staking $10,000 on 2016 being one of the 10 hottest years ever recorded and another $10,000 on this decade being the hottest ever recorded.

Bastardi responded:

Fine, don't take the bet. Just know that feeding millions of displaced climate refugees will take a whole lot more than $20k.
