Bill Cosby Loses Lawyer Marty Singer in Sex Abuse Cases

Bill Cosby will no longer be represented by Marty Singer, a prominent entertainment lawyer who has represented the comedian for years and was until recently, at his side in the ongoing sex abuse lawsuit brought by Judy Huth.
Singer’s departure from Cosby’s legal team is laid out in court papers, but the reasons why Singer is no longer Cosby’s attorney remains murky. Singer has represented other troubled entertainers in the past including Charlie Sheen, but there’s been nothing quite like the press storm that has ensued after more than 40 women alleged they were victim to rape at the hands of Cosby.
One of those women is Huth, who alleges she was sexually assaulted four decades ago at the Playboy Mansion. Because Huth was a minor at the time, her lawsuit could vault over statute of limitations, but thereare other hurdles upcoming.
Those will be handled by Christopher Tayback of Quinn Emanuel.
“Quinn Emanuel is an excellent law firm,” Singer tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We are happy to assist in the transition of the cases to them.”
News of Singer’s departures comes on the heels of a L.A. Superior Court judge declining to end the Huth lawsuit and Cosby having to give a new deposition. Tayback will also have to contend with legal actions brought in California by Janice Dickinson and Chloe Goins as well as an insurance dispute emanating from defamation battles with several more female accusers.
