Justin Bieber’s Tour Gets Off to Rocky Start: The Drama So Far

Calling all Beliebers! Justin could really use your help. The 22-year-old pop star’s Purpose tour is off to a rocky start after hitting a few bumps in the road.

On Tuesday, the “Sorry” singer took to Instagram to announce that he’d be canceling all future fan meet-and-greets (which is many, considering the tour is slated to last a full year). “Love u guys,” Bieber began before delivering the blow. “I’m going to be canceling my meet and greets. I enjoy meeting such incredible people but I end up feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people’s spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy."

He went on to insist that while he wants to interact with his fans, he has to consider himself too. "Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression,” he confessed. “The pressure of meeting people’s expectations of what I’m supposed to be is so much for me to handle and a lot on my shoulders. Never want to disappoint but I feel I would rather give you guys the show and my albums as promised. Can’t tell you how sorry I am, and wish it wasn’t so hard on me.. And I want to stay in the healthy mindset I’m in to give you the best show you have ever seen ;)”

The post came as news broke that a potentially dangerous fan got within 10 feet of him during one such meet-and-greet the night before. Apparently, the fan had been on Justin’s security team’s watch list but still somehow managed to get in and get close. The format will reportedly change from one-on-one interactions to more of a controlled group situation, with Bieber up on a stage addressing the fans below.

On its own, that might not seem like a big deal, but that was just the beginning. Around the same time, he posted a cryptic message about the entertainment capital of the universe, Los Angeles, where he had just performed in front of a star-studded crowd, including Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, rumored hookup Kourtney Kardashian, and off-again gal pal Hailey Baldwin.

See Kim and Kanye get down to Biebs:

“La is so fake they drain me until im dry,” he shared (before deleting the message).

Unfortunately, he couldn’t delete his drunken rant at 1 Oak nightclub in West Hollywood from Saturday. As a precursor to his speech, he tipped backward over the DJ booth and had to be helped upright by security.

“Yo, you guys havin’ a good night tonight?” Bieber asked the crowd before assuring everyone he was “not going to give like a 30-minute speech” since he’s “not Kanye West” (no one was more relieved to hear that than Kanye, no doubt). Still, he had a few things he wanted to say.

“I think people hate on people who are themselves, you know?” he mumbled. “Maybe I’m drunk or maybe I’m just speaking real s***, but I feel like a lot of the reason why there’s so many people that hate on me is ‘cause I’m just myself.” Well, that’s one theory.

Watch it here:

“You know, you can hate on me for being myself too, but … if you just are yourself and are OK with just being yourself and making spontaneous decisions and just, like, wearing whatever you want to wear and doing whatever you want to do — we’re going to make bad decisions sometimes, but we ultimately want to make good decisions,” he continued. Umm. OK. “So let’s try to make the best decisions as we possibly know how to give and have a good night!”

It seemed that he at least succeeded, as he shared a few photos of his “Night out in la with the boys,” which included a beanie-and-sunglasses-clad Marilyn Manson.

Earlier in the day, he posted a more nostalgic shot of himself and ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez in a sweet embrace. The pic originally went up sans caption, but he later added, “Feels.” In the shot, the two young stars kiss in a swimming pool — which is fine, if not a little weepy, since they do seem to be (finally) over for good (at least for now).

The moral of the story? If you paid upward of $2K to meet Justin in person during his tour, you might want to get a refund.
