Beyoncé Releases ‘Lemonade’ and We Still Haven't Fully Recovered

When life hands Beyoncé lemons, she makes Lemonade – an hour-long feature using new music and various vignettes, which aired on HBO Saturday night. Following the special, she dropped her sixth studio album, of the same name, exclusively on Tidal.

During the special event, the 34-year-old singer mixed music with intermissions of poetry, almost entirely dealing with themes of infidelity. (So much so that many Twitter users were wondering if the multiple songs about a women scorned were directed towards Jay Z.)

The event also featured special appearances by Serena Williams (who danced alongside Bey in a black leotard) and vintage footage of a young Beyoncé with her dad. The Weeknd also made a sort-of appearance as he was featured in a duet, but did not actually make an appearance during the video.

However, the fans who thought that the film was a breakup anthem were in for a happy ending of sorts, as the final song and film ended with scenes of a happy Bey, Jay and Blue Ivy taken from what appeared to be home movies.

But in classic Queen Bey fashion, she kept mum and only released mysterious clips last weekend to leave fans guessing until it aired at 9 p.m.

Beyoncé dropped her last self-titled item in 2013 as a big surprise to her fans, and most recently shocked the world releasing her newest single “Formation.”

Her Formation World Tour kicks off Wednesday in Miami.
